Who calls it psychologically devastating?
Abstract
There is much headshaking over the welfare of workers who are subjected to rigid conditions in industrial work. Renowned theorists have concluded that an individual's ability to satisfy his personal psychological needs is seriously hampered by the resirictive demands of modern organization and control techniques. Is this actually the case or only an interesting theory? Here is evidence that managers are not crippling their workers by requiring conformity to work rules and procedures.
