Primary and Secondary Validity of Consumer Purchase Probabilities

Donald H. Granbois; John O. Summers

Abstract

The predictiveness of probabilistic purchase intentions data gathered from husbands and wives responding both independently and jointly is studied. Both aggregate tests (secondary validity) and a measure of individual predictive accuracy (primary validity) suggested by the Bayesian literature on subjective probability assessment are used.
