Abstract

Two experiments were presented to investigate the out-group homogeneity effect in age groups and gender groups and the role of familiarity in such an effect. The results indicated that: 1. There was a significant out-group homogeneity effect in the age groups, which was due to the fact that the young group and the old group were unfamiliar with each other. 2.There wasn't an out-group homogeneity effect in the gender groups, which could be attributed to that fact that the young male group and young female group were familiar with each other.
